Is IELTS required for Germany?

Most universities require IELTS for admission in Germany. You also need a higher education entrance qualification known as Hochschulzugangsberechtigung (HZB).

For undergraduate programs, a high-school diploma or school-leaving certificate is required. For postgraduate programs, an undergraduate degree is necessary.

If your qualification is not recognized, you can study at a Studienkolleg and pass the Feststellungprüfung before entering a university.

If your program is taught in German, you must prove your German proficiency. Some English-taught programs may not need German.
